AUGUST 18TH – Since the beginning of August Hurghada has seen a huge increase in tourism from all parts of the world hitting 79,000 in just 2 weeks.

Egyptian Travel Association confirm, tourist from 25 Countries landed at Hurghada’s International airport in the last 13 days making use of their new Terminal addition last year.

Hurghada are expecting to reach higher levels through the Winter months due to the all year round sunshine, beautiful city, beaches, diving and activities.

Ehab Shorkry, owner of a travel agency said ‘Hurghada is now becoming a top travel destination especially to German Tourist and Hurghada are expecting around 102 flights to Hurghada per week from Germany alone.

British tourism is proving popular with British Airports regularly adding routes due to demand. Newcastle & Bristol are the latest UK airports to have added direct routes to Hurghada.

New stats reveal Hurghada and Marsa Alam show holiday bookings have doubled compared to the Summer last year. Antalya in Turkey shows an increase of almost 20% last month with a last minute surge of bookings.

Hurghada International and Marsa Alam Airports on the Red Sea ranked high on the German package holiday market last month according to the leading reservation provider Traveltainment. In May Hurghada’s bookings saw a rise of 102% and July a staggering 112%. Marsa Alam shot up 129% and come in the top 10 destination airports rankings which is a positive sign for Egypt.

Turkey is now back on the map with a 19% increase last month after 2 years of severe drop in Tourism.

In comparison, Spain & Greece were German package holiday markets overall Winners. Palma had a 6 percent increase giving them a 24% share taking them into second place. However, Canary Island overall showed disappointing figures with a 6% drop in Tenerife & Las Palmas falling 4%.

Greece saw a drop in May and carried on throughout June. Rhodes saw a decrease in bookings by 6% after Mays 2% drop, but Kos showed an improvement with a 10% rise after the 8% drop in the previous month.
